Riding on black, volcanic, sandy soil that is washboarded and undulating is not recommended. It is especially not recommended for unicycles and\/or after the sun has gone down. If you should decide to attempt to ride a unicycle through such terrain at dusk, you may find yourself in a cow pie.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I rolled into camp around 9:15. I rode until I couldn\u2019t see the terrain anymore (or maybe for about 15 minutes past that) and found a spot to set up camp, which fortunately wasn\u2019t too difficult. I guess I was just having so much fun in this sandbox called Idaho. That\u2019s right, I\u2019m out of Montana and in Idaho!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning, I rode due east. As I did so, I crossed the Divide from the east side to the west side, and at the same time, I crossed from Montana into Idaho (which is to the west of Montana). Figure that one out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Much of the route through Idaho is on a rail trail, notorious for its soft and abrasive volcanic soil. A lot of it is washboard, and there are sections that you just sink into, like dry sand at the beach. It\u2019s been tough going, but I\u2019ve ridden through all of it so far, and I\u2019m actually enjoying it. I think the wackiness of it all might have something to do with it. The ridiculousness of trying to ride a unicycle through this is very comedic in my mind and somehow entertains me. Or maybe I\u2019ve really lost it this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, I\u2019m going to have to cut his post short. It\u2019s after 10:00! Way past my bedtime! Oh, and I saw a mom and baby moose in close proximity to my location as I rode the rail trail\u2014very cool and a little bit scary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
