I was surprised that it rained much of the night. It stopped by the time the sun came up, but I slept in anyway. As I got going, I realized I had less than 1,000 miles remaining! I guess that’s still a lot, but it feels like the home stretch.

After the initial climb this morning, it was a nice descent into Salida. CDT hikers and GDR riders have ranked Salida the #1 trail town. Will I be able to resist taking a zero? I think so.

The first thing I did in town was stop by Absolute Bikes, where a new bearing was waiting for my muni. I also picked up a two-liter bottle of soda to use as a foam roller. Speaking of which, I need to get rolling on it. I’ve been doing chores all evening, and now it’s 10:30. Off to roll around on a soda bottle…
