As I rode this morning, I called unicycledotcom to see if I could get a replacement seat base shipped out. To have the part shipped out by the end of the day, I’d have to find a place in Pinedale to receive it before 2:00 my time. It’d be a push.

I was frustrated to get stuck in a Wyoming traffic jam 9 miles from town. Ranchers were moving cattle a couple miles down the road at about 2 – 3 miles per hour, and clouds of horseflies filled the air. Despite the delay, I found the A to Z Hardware store with 15 minutes to spare. The hardware store also houses a little bike shop in the back corner.

In my dehydrated, hungry, and worn-down state, I doubted that I was making much sense, but the owner had no problem with me shipping the part to them. He was doubtful that an overnight shipment would arrive tomorrow due to the town’s remoteness, so after giving it some thought over an ice cream bar, I decided that I’d go for two-day shipping and put the difference in cost towards the motel room. I had wanted to push through Pinedale quickly, especially after my unexpected zero the other day and two full rest days in Lima. Oh well, Pinedale seems like a nice little town and a nice place to take some time off.

I’m staying at the Half Moon Motel and trying to resist all the yummy places to eat. Other than my dinner at the Wind River Brewery this evening, I’ll eat out of the grocery store for the rest of my stay here.
