Sheep! Thousands and thousands of sheep! As the day neared its end, I approached a truck and camper on the side of the road. A big, old, and very friendly dog came over to greet me along with her pup. It took me a second to realize that the little one was actually a lamb. I looked up and was stunned to see thousands of sheep. I had thought they were rocks as I rode (hey, it was the end of a long day). I’ve never seen a sight quite like it.

This morning, I rode right down the divide line for a few miles. When I looked to either side, all I could see was vast openness as far as the eye could see.
Thirty miles in, I came upon the ghost town of South Pass City. I stopped there to pick up a resupply box, and once again, I have more food than I can eat…

…ooh… There was just a really bright light in the sky off near the horizon. It started blinking, then disappeared. Glad I’m not in camp alone tonight! Melanie is here and we are cameling up at the last water source for the next 55 miles. This place is so desiccated and vast. It’s kind of hard to comprehend and impossible to convey.
