Day 34 – Sandbox
Riding on black, volcanic, sandy soil that is washboarded and undulating is not recommended. It is especially not recommended for unicycles and/or after the sun has gone down. If you should decide to attempt to ride a unicycle through such terrain at dusk, you may find yourself in a cow pie.

Day 33 – Keep on truckin’
My biggest day yet, though not the hardest. The route’s really been flattening out lately, and today I didn’t have to fight too much wind.

Day 32 – Fun with hats
Nothing much to report today. I woke up feeling very groggy and extremely drained, so I decided to rest another day. I blame it on you. I was up late until one or two trying to take care of the blog and website so that you can stay informed on my life (that’s kind of weird).

Day 31 – Resting in Lima
I took the day off to rest here. Two CDT hikers, Lint and Dirtmonger, are zeroing here as well. Though we never met, Lint actually started his first long-distance hike on the AT only five days before I started my hike back in 2004! Then, in 2006, we both found ourselves hiking the PCT! Small world.

Day 30 – Lima, MT
Yet again, the landscapes today were amazing. Nothing but me, a dirt road, sagebrush, and a few animals as far as I could see. I’m surprised to find that I like this type of landscape the most so far.

Day 29 – John Jacob
Thanks, Russ. Now I have ‘John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt’ stuck in my head. Last night at dinner, the topic of ‘earworms’ came up.

Day 28 – Here, fishy fishy
As I rode along some of the best trout water in the country today, I couldn’t help but wish that, perhaps, I had chosen to go on a fishing trip instead of a unicycling trip.

Day 27 – What a View
Wow, I just realized I forgot to get my ‘free’ coffee from the KOA campground office this morning. What’s wrong with me?

Day 26 – Butte, MT
“What is this idiot [me] doing riding down the interstate on a unicycle?”

Day 25 – Abort!
I took my time waking up this morning, enjoying the warmth of my sleeping bag. Had it been raining this morning, I would have just laid there till it stopped. I would have waited all day if I had to.
